Louise Claassen is a consultant that designs, develops and facilitates people development initiatives that help to equip our leaders, managers and specialists to elevate the present and to create a compelling future. She works predominantly in Retail, IT, Consulting and Banking.
Louise is passionate about the power that immersive and participative models of learning have in releasing creative and innovative thinking in individuals and teams. This energy is then applied to solve complex problems and create new opportunities for organisations. Action learning, coaching and gaming are proven approaches to achieve these results and to encourage collaboration and develop highly effective teams.
Lousie has worked with retail clients such as Edcon, Mr Price, Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Massmart, Ellerines, Medrite, Clicks, Dischem and Spinneys (Dubai). In her role as Retail Academy Managing Comsultant at UCS Solutions she gained an in-depth understanding of retail processes and retail technologies. The retail Academy team designed, developed and delivered a wide range of learning programmes for Buyers, Planners, Supply Chain Specialists, Store Operations Managers and Pharmacists
Action Learning Projects
Over the past 10 years Louise has designed, facilitated and coached Action Learning projects to create business impact for a range of clients. Here are some examples:
Standard Bank: Action Learning coaching on the ALI IT Leadership Programme aimed at emerging IT leadership talent; Technology Leadership Programme targeted at talented, experienced IT specialists and leaders (ongoing); and HR Shared Services Development Programme targeted at leaders in the HR Shared Services team (ongoing).
Outcomes: In the case of each programme the project was framed around a key strategic divisional challenge. The ALI team delivered a project to enable collaboration in the Bank through the use of available tools that is estimated to save the bank millions of Rands. The project was very well by received by the executive team and most of the team members have since been promoted to senior leadership positions.
GIBS: Action Learning project design, facilitation and coaching on the IWFSA and Massmart programmes.
Outcomes IWFSA: The IWFSA programme is focussed on senior women leaders from a broad range of organisations. Delegates represented industry, government and the non-profit sector. Teams worked with non-profit organisations to identify a challenge and implement a project to address that challenge. High-impact projects were delivered to Choc, Door of Hope, Agang Sechaba and the Tomorrow Trust.
Massmart: Action Learning programme and project design and facilitation for retail managers and specialists as part of the Merchant Development Programme and Graduate Development Programme.
Outcomes: The Massmart Merchant Development Programme is targeted at merchants at middle management level. The aim of the programme is to improve business performance through enhanced category competitiveness. Over the 5 years of my involvement in the programme about 30 category strategies were developed and implemented with impact across the entire retail supply chain. Approximately 70% of category strategies were implemented with a significant uptick in sales and profitability for the business.
