After several years of working in huge line-up productions, such as Bafunny Bafunny, Mass Hysteria and the like, comedy icon Mark Banks returns to the format he pioneered in SA, with Banksrupt!
The show will be lovingly produced by Whacked™ Special Project, and will include video, sketch, stand-up and maybe even some guests.
“Whacked™’s history is very much indebted to Mark’s body of work, as we grew up watching his brilliant satirical sketch shows, he made use of audio, video and even overhead projectors, it was very forward thinking then,” says Vlismas, “that was where the seeds for where we are today were planted, and we look forward to applying Mark’s brilliant eye for current events to as much modern technology as we can.”
With HD cameras, costumes, animation and of course, Bank’s wild cast of personality disorders, the show promises to be a fantastic addition to the calendar in February of 2013.
“The Globe is a fantastic venue that seems to have slid off the map in recent years, but we’ve seen a big turn-around in recent months, and people have been streaming in to see the shows – we felt it would be a perfect place to launch Mark’s new show,” says Taffia Keight.
“The title is about where we are as a nation – we’re broke – financially, morally, and mentally – and I want to sketch out the villains behind this sorry state we’re in, obviously with a tongue in cheek flavor to keep it interesting…” says Banks with a signature glint of mischief. Be afraid, be very afraid…
We promised you the dates for Banksrupt in your city. New tour dates announced below.
