DJ Shimza, whose real name is Ashley Raphala, is a South African DJ, producer, and promoter. He’s known for his Afro-tech sound, intricate queuing and looping, and energetic performances. Shimza is also recognized for his philanthropic efforts, particularly his annual One Man Show, which raises funds for underprivileged children.

Born in Swaziland and raised in Tembisa, South Africa, Shimza began producing music at the age of 15. 

He gained recognition after winning the Betrams Next Big Thing competition, which was televised on Channel O. 

His career includes winning several DJ competitions and playing at major events like the Spring Fiesta and YFM gigs. 

He signed with Black Coffee’s Soulistic Music record label in 2013. 

Shimza made his Ibiza debut in 2016 at Destino’s Closing Party. 

He has toured extensively, performing in countries like Mexico, the US, and the UK.

He is known for his technical skills, often referred to as the “effect master” and “vinyl assassin”. 

His One Man Show, an annual outdoor party, raises funds for underprivileged children and creates jobs. 

Shimza has released two CD compilations: SA House Chart and Next Big Thing. 

He has also released tracks like “African Woman” and “Akulalwa”. 

In 2016, he released a two-track EP called “Destino” featuring a remix by Karizma.
