We sat down with Whacked Exclusive Ndumiso Lindi and found out what he has instore for us at Carnival City, how performing to his home crowd in EC was and what it takes to be the African King of comedy and this is what he had to say…
“Performing to my home crowd was the best, they came out there in numbers as families to support Mr Lindi’s son, it was nerve wrecking, I was shaking, I forgot my lines but after a while the nerves subsided and I loved being there and after the show I was told all throughout the show I kept getting standing ovations but ofcourse I couldn’t see those cause it was dark, but it was great.
African Kings of Comedy was an amazing experience and for me it just takes talent first of all and also someone believing that you can do it, that you can come out of your comfort zone and have you stand in front of a whole new kind of audience and still hold your own, it does not mean that I’m better than anyone else, it just means that I can do it and I did!
With Carnival City Comedy Sessions I like that it gives me the opportunity to test and come up with new material every week, so I can see what works and what doesn’t, its gonna force me to constantly be thinking and sparking new jokes, tweaking old jokes and testing them out on the audience and with my graphic design background, I’m one for hectic conceptualizing, so even if I take an old joke, I always try to look at it in a different angle, the timing, delivery and also just building up to it must also be perfect.
Great article. I’m experiencing many of these issues as
well..
May I simply say what a comfort to discover someone that really knows what they are talking about on the internet. You actually realize how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people must look at this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe you are not more popular since you surely have the gift.
