Bongani Piano NkosI
Gauteng
Bongani Piano Nkosi (Founder of True Vine Promotions) is a comedian who started by acting at a very tender age, acting dramas at church and making sure that he adds humour in every drama regardless of the message being sent through the drama. It was known that if there’s a drama, Bongani has to be there and if he’s there, then you guaranteed to laugh your lungs out.
In 2011, he was asked to welcome visitors in a youth function and oh boy, he did it in style and nailed it. What caught his attention though is when he saw Pastor Phiri (Emmanuel Assembly, Gutshwa) laughing uncontrollably and he knew right there that he is made for this, so he started doing general spaces like halls and clubs. In 2014 he moved to Pretoria, where he progressed massively in the art and became a professional comedian, hosting shows and performing in national theaters.
Having stayed in 3 provinces (M.P, KZN and GP), Bongani can hear all South African official languages, can speak almost all of them except Venda (for obvious reasons, I mean, can you? e). This has helped shape his comedy as he speaks a lot about South Africa as a whole, tribes, traditions and behaviours of different cultures using different languages in his sets, which makes him rather unique (as I avoid using the term “special”).
He has performed alongside MP’s finest such as Innomash, Moozy, Matewu, etc and overall he has shared stages with MphoPopps, Chris Forrest, KG, Loyiso Gola, Dillan Olliphant, Robbie Collins, etc.
