You can’t tell from any distance but Loyiso Madinga is taller than he looks. In fact, he’s a giant on the inside.
Having burst onto the comedy scene with a murderous set at Awednesday Comedy he set the stage alight when he won the Graça Comedy Showdown in 2012 (just 3shows after his debut). This lead to him performing at the Nando’s Comedy Fest alongside international acts such as Mitch Fatel. He killed it again and stood as tall as the seasoned acts.
His comedy career skyrocketed quickly as he has since appeared on Comedy Central’s Live at Parkers for Tumi Morake’s special, performed at David Kau’s Blacks Only show thrice, headlined for Ndumiso Lindi at Carnival City, opened for John Vlismas and Deep Fried and grown at least an inch taller (at least).
Not only is he the current promo voice for Comedy Central but he has also been the face of the MetroFM Awards – two years running – with a character that he created, wrote for and performed who has gained a cult following. Loyiso also appeared in the MTV Base presenter search where his impersonations of the international personalities earned him great reviews and popularity during the show.
All this in under two years. It’s no wonder Tumi Morake says that he’s her favourite up and coming Comedian.
